Career Day 2023

On Friday, January 6, all MGJSHS students participated in Career Day. Seventh and eighth grade students participated in a Reality Store and Tech Trek competition. Freshmen went to three career sessions with local professionals, had a meeting with John Hinds Career Center, and joined the Reality Store in the afternoon. Sophomores went to four career sessions and learned about their personal style through the DISC assessment. Juniors and seniors went to four career sessions in the morning and then had three additional sessions focused on college and careers available in Grant and Madison counties in the afternoon. Over 30 local professionals joined us to share about their careers and experiences—many of our speakers were Madison-Grant alumni. It was an active day full of exciting learning opportunities!

21st Century Scholars

The 21st Century Scholars Program began in 1990 to ensure that all Indiana families can afford a college education for their children. Students can only qualify for this scholarship as 7th or 8th graders. Learn more from your counselor or by visiting the 21st Century Scholar website.

College Visit/Job Shadowing

Choosing the right college is a big decision - one that requires more than just a cursory look at each school’s financial commitment. We encourage all high school students to visit their top choices before making this all important decision. To help, we give every student in grades 9-12 two days each semester for college visits.

Students must:

  • Obtain a visitation form from their counselor
  • Have passing grades in all classes at the time of the visit
  • Set up an appointment with a representative from their college of choice

State Sponsored Graduation Options

Curriculum

We are deeply focused on 21st century academics. Madison-Grant offers a wide selection of curricular options for students, including dual/college credit courses, fine arts, career and technical education courses, and world languages.

  • Dual-Credit Offerings
  • Career Training
    • MG high school students may also enroll in vocational-technical training at Hinds Career Center or Ivy Tech Community College to develop skills for use in the workforce. Students who attend Hinds or Ivy Tech must maintain their enrollment at Madison-Grant and attend vocational school every day it is open, even if Madison-Grant is not in session. More information is available in our student services office.
  • Virtual Academy
    • Students at Madison-Grant are welcome to enroll in online courses through APEX Learning to work through credit recovery, courses we do not have the resources or space to offer, and SAT/ACT test prep. For additional information, please make an appointment to speak with your school counselor, or contact our site instructor, Mrs. McKinney.
